For resin lenses, 1.74 high index lenses is the thinnest lenses in the market, and it's mainly for the people with high or very high power, or the other special requirements for the lenses. usually, if the lenses with high power, it must be thick,  so for these peoples,  they need the high index lenses, which is more thinner and also the weight of the lenses is light.  Normally, if the power of the eyes is lower than +/-6.00 SPH, there is no need to spend the extra money to get the high index lenses. but if it is with high or very high power problem of the eyes, in that case, the high index lenses will be necessary. usually, we called the high index lenses, it have 4 kinds of related lenses: 1.60 index, 1.67 index, 1.70 index and 1.74 index;  and the 1.70 and 1.74 high index lenses is more thinner than the 1.60 and 1.67 high index lenses; the principle is: with the same power, more higher of the lenses' index, more thinner of the lenses.

As for 1.74 ASP HMC EMI lenses, the regular power range is: 

SPH 0.00 to -15.00, and from 0.00 sph to -6.00 sph, the diameter is 75mm, from -6.25 sph to -15.00 sph, the diameter is 70mm.

SPH 0.00 to -12.00 with 0.00 to -2.00 CYL,  and from 0.00 sph to -6.00 sph with 0.00 to -2.00 CYL, the diameter is 75mm, from -6.25 to -12.00 sph with 0.00 to -2.00 CYL, the diameter is 70mm.

SPH +0.25 to +6.00 with 0.00 to -2.00 CYL, the diameter of  the plus power is also 65mm as normal index resin lenses.

For 1.74 high index lenses, we also called it as Ultra-thin high index 1.74 Lenses, this kind of ultra thin lenses, which is near 50% thinner than normal resin lenses, like 1.499 index and 1.56 index, also, more than 5%~10% thinner than 1.67 high index lenses, giving a high and comfortable exprience of advanced technology on optical lenses.

1.74 high index lenses, which is more flat, reducing the vision distortion of high power, it can bring the user more clear vision.

● The difference with normal index lenses

There are many different types, options and raw materials for high index lenses, all have different features and advantages, how to select, it depends on the user's real requirements.

--Regular lenses: like: CR39 1.50 index, or 1.56 index, it can be used widely, but it have problem for high power, because it is very thick, for high power, it will be problem for this kind of regular lenses to use. 

--High index lenses: they are made of resin raw materials, which transmit the light much better than regular lenses, therefore,it can make the user feeling more clear and comfortable to wear the glasses.
